Kilimanjaro is a short distance from Arusha and Moshi. This excursion offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the Kilimanjaro culture while visiting Materuni community. Exploring the village, which is nestled on the slopes of the famed mountain, reveals a world of tradition, history, and gastronomy. Enjoy a stroll to stunning local waterfalls before indulging in a traditional lunch featuring local banana wine.
This is the typical itinerary for this product. Stop at: Rundugai Cultural Tourism Enterprise, 7609 Rundugai, Tanzania. We will pick you up in the morning from your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi, or from the Kilimanjaro/Arusha airports, in a clean air-conditioned vehicle, and bring you to Maasai hamlet. The community allows visitors to see many traditional features of Maasai life while also seeing how the Maasai adapt to progress and touch with contemporary culture. All visits are planned and organized by the Maasai themselves; they will show you their traditional Maasai dance and singing, various types of Maasai houses, traditional beads, making fire, ornaments, some bush techniques and medicine, and you will be able to walk with their cattle on the plains before heading to Materuni village, the home of the Chagga tribe. Duration: three hours.
You will be welcomed inside a Chagga home for a cooked traditional lunch and tropical fruits. After lunch, you'll learn about the Tanzanian coffee industry from a local barista and participate in coffee grinding, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances - a wonderful chance to immerse yourself in the local culture. You will create your own cup of coffee using traditional methods, taste local coffee, and before saying farewell, you can relish the coffee you produced, and then we will go with a one-hour climb to Materuni waterfalls.
Materuni waterfalls are approximately 45 minutes to an hour walk from Materuni village. Materuni hamlet is still a genuine tribal community, home to the Chagga tribe, and the last village before entering Kilimanjaro National Park. Along the trip, you will learn about the Chagga tribe's culture, village life, and the surrounding flora and animals. With your guide by your side, you will be able to experience amazing vistas and, with luck, sight Mount Kilimanjaro's peak. The terrain can be slick and muddy along the way, so excellent hiking shoes with traction and a raincoat are recommended. When you arrive at the waterfalls, marvel at cascades that are more than 80 metres (262 feet) high. Spend some time there before traveling back to Arusha, Moshi, or Kilimanjaro airport. Duration: 4 hours.
We will spend the majority of our stay around Mount Kilimanjaro, which gives us a decent possibility of seeing and photographing the peak.
