Take a leisurely bike ride to learn about Moshi’s busy everyday life. Savor a typical Tanzanian meal at a neighborhood house and a refreshing beer at the historic train station overlooking Kilimanjaro.
Take a guided bike tour to experience Moshi's busy daily life. Explore the Msaranga region's modest farms and family homes, observe the day-to-day operations of the local churches, mosques, and schools, and eat a traditional Tanzanian supper with a local family. Start the day getting to know your bike, getting it comfortable, and getting used to the controls. Take a leisurely ride to Moshi's Majengo neighborhood, the center of Moshi craft, and immerse yourself in the city's busy everyday life. Take in the bewildering assortment of handcrafted items and local crafts that are artistically organized by the side of the road. From here, ride through the Msaranga area's tiny farms and family homes, observing the day-to-day operations of the local churches, mosques, and schools. You then have the chance to assist the local field workers as you travel through yards of rice fields, which are used to grow one of Tanzania's essential foods. Enjoy a delicious meal prepared by a welcoming local family as the reward for your (brief) labor. After you've relaxed and refueled, carry on riding your bike through the Rau Forest, a protected tropical woodland gem that is teeming with animal and bird sounds. As you ride by, look out for the black-and-white faces of colobus monkeys who are coming up on you and looking at you with curiosity. The historic railway station is your final stop after passing through the Rau Forest's shaded canopy. If you're lucky, you'll be able to enjoy a nice drink at the train station bar while admiring Kilimanjaro. This is a terrific way to wind down before returning to town, where you can finally relax and rest your tired but contented legs.
