Imagine a herd of thousands of zebras and wildebeests, all of them kicking up dust and defending one another from the nearby predators while groaning and braying in their unique sounds. As amazing as this is—and believe us, it is—it becomes an absolutely one-of-a-kind sight when you include a river! Only from late July to early October can the northern Serengeti’s annual Wildebeest Migration cross the Mara River.

This path leads directly to the location of this natural apotheosis, where, with luck, you may witness the herds putting their lives in danger in a croc-infested river. Crocs? Yes, those obnoxious critters, and sure, this is not a path for the weak of heart! Did we also mention that on the way back, it goes via the magnificent Ngorongoro crater and the elephant-filled Tarangire?

Day 1 Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

With a broad smile, your personal guide welcomes you to Tanzania as you exit Kilimanjaro International Airport. "Karibu Tanzania!" The guide drives you directly to your accommodation, where you may unwind and enjoy the culture of Africa. The following day, your guide takes you on a private, VIP safari where you can go at your own speed. You can luxuriate in your own safari car and pause as much as you choose to see the wildlife!

Day 2 Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is renowned for its abundance of massive baobab trees and large herds of elephants. Elephants have a unique method for extracting water from these trees, which can survive for hundreds of years. During the dry season, they use these trees as a source of water. You can witness herds of up to 250 elephants in Tarangire during this season, along with many other creatures, because the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season.

Day 3 Serengeti National Park (central west/east)

Due in large part to the Great Migration that travels through the Serengeti National Park, it is well recognized as a safari destination. The sheer number of predators that inhabit this area—more than 4,000 lions, 225 cheetahs, 1,000 leopards, 3500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs—is as astonishing as the massive, stampeding herds! Naturally, there are many more stunning creatures that your guide will be happy to look for with you. Are you prepared for this?

Day 4 - 5 Northern Serengeti & the Great Migration (possibility to see the famous Mara River crossing)

Imagine traveling across the northern Serengeti's green plains with your guide and encountering millions of zebras and wildebeests that are bleating and wailing as they try to cross a crocodile-infested river. This is the well-known crossing of the Mara River during the Great Migration, a natural wonder that takes place in the northern Serengeti National Park every year between July and October. The large cats waiting on the other side, as hungry for meat as the herds are for better pastures, are another reason why this will be a very nerve-racking spectacle to observe.

Day 6 Serengeti National Park (central west/east)

The Great Migration that passes through Serengeti National Park is the primary reason it is so well-known as a safari destination. Not only are the massive, stampeding herds amazing, but so are the numerous predators that call this place home, including around 4,000 lions, 225 cheetahs, 1,000 leopards, 3500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs! There are also, of course, many other lovely creatures that your guide will be happy to look for with you. Do you feel prepared for this?

Day 7 Ngorongoro Conservation Area (incl. Crater)

One of the seven natural wonders of Africa is the well-known Ngorongoro Crater. A massive volcano erupted two million years ago, creating the crater. Africa's biggest concentration of animals can be found in this unique ecosystem that was formed by the rich lava! When you enter the crater, you are surrounded by thousands of animals, including buffalos, zebras, black rhinos, and lions. The sights are breathtaking.

Day 8 - 9 The last day and your flight home from Kilimanjaro Int. Airport

Last day! You can unwind in the lodge for a little while longer before our driver drives you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your travel home, depending on when your departure is. Having second thoughts? Traveling to one of Tanzania's idyllic islands, like Zanzibar, Pemba, or Mafia, can also extend your vacation by a few days!
